As a sole practitioner designer, Nathan Durrett brings almost fifteen years of experience designing high end residential, ranch and sustainable custom homes. With projects ranging from the karst hills of Central Texas, the piney woods of East Texas and the prairies of Southeast Texas, he emphasizes vernacular design with sustainable solutions through the unique characteristics of each homesite. By focusing on personalized experiences, Nathan works directly with his clients to create truly one-of-a-kind homes that reflect their daily lives in the twenty-first century and that are responsive to the land from which they are built upon.

Growing up on a small family homestead gives Nathan a unique perspective on the relationship between sustainability and self-sufficiency. Between rotating seasons, understanding that relationship required a great personal connection to site and place to maintain peak efficiency of both their home and their land. This experience allowed them the satisfaction of being responsible for their own food and wellbeing while encouraging the value and importance of being sustainable and self-reliant.

Fundamental to Nathan’s design philosophy are experiences. Each successful project begins by building and fostering close relationships with each client. By forming such partnerships, open and honest communication becomes paramount as he and his clients learn more about each other as well as the project they are about to embark on together.

Recognizing that each project is as unique as the clients themselves, Nathan advocates a holistic one-on-one approach to design. This cultivated process emanates from pencil and paper as he and his clients navigate each space within the project. Connecting them to their home, Nathan focuses on how the clients and guests alike will experience each space individually. With a commitment to quality and attention to detail, each custom design is intended to ensure a successful and enduring custom home the clients may now call their own.

While away from his drafting table, Nathan can be found with family and friends, outdoors and exercising. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, hiking, camping and reading a good book.
